The Raiders have had a couple of pleasant surprises stand out for them early in their training camp, and they’ll need those players to continue to improve if they hope to make the playoffs this year.

The coaching staff is presently assessing the roster at training camp as the Las Vegas Raiders strive for a better season. The Raiders are hoping to reach the playoffs this year after a series of offseason moves. It’ll be a difficult job, given the AFC West’s Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers both seem to be postseason contenders.
Even yet, Vegas is probably feeling very good about itself right now. Both Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards have received great accolades from Jon Gruden. Darren Waller is still one of the finest tight ends in the league, despite his absence. Although the offense should be strong, the defense must improve.
Despite facing an uphill fight this season, the Raiders have received some encouraging news from training camp. As a result, Las Vegas may have a more deadly pass attack than previously thought. Offense of the Raiders
Zay Jones
Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards have received high praise from Jon Gruden, but Zay Jones has been a star throughout training camp. Jones has yet to drop a pass, according to the Las Vegas Sun, despite being actively engaged in drills and practice. Jones was brought in to fight for a roster place after a rocky start to his career. However, based on his current play, he may be able to carve himself a place in this offense.
Zay Jones is now the Raiders’ immediate backup behind Bryan Edwards, according to the Raiders’ unofficial depth chart. Ruggs, Edwards, and Hunter Renfrow are expected to nail down the first three starting positions, thus Jones will have to win the fourth slot on the depth chart. Keep a watch on Zay Jones, who has been on fire since training camp began.

Much of this is due to Darren Waller’s absence from training camp, and there is no timetable for his return. Despite this, Foster Moreau has shown himself as a capable tight end. Until Waller returns, Moreau is a major target for Derek Carr in the red zone.
Foster Moreau, on the other hand, is more likely to be a reliable backup. However, Waller’s domination in training camp should allay any fears about him missing any games this season. Moreau has been a nice surprise for the Raiders so far due to his consistency throughout training camp.
Defense of the Raiders
Hobbs, Nate
The Raiders have a battle for the starting nickel cornerback position on defense, with Neville Lawson banned for the first two games of the season. It seemed like the competition was mostly between Nate Hobbs and Amik Robertson at the start of training camp. Hobbs, on the other hand, has raced away with it and is now the obvious favorite to win the position.
Nate Hobbs was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, thus he didn’t have great hopes to begin with. Hobbs has been a standout throughout training camp, so the Raiders must be pleased to have him on the roster. We’ll see how he performs in camp, as a run of strong performances should win him the starting position until Lawson returns in Week 3.
